“Barkha is a monsoon love song about longing, romance, and the feeling of waiting for someone who never arrives. Rooted primarily in Raag Jog, with a gentle transition into Jog Kauns towards the ending, the song carries an intimate, soulful and deeply Indian classical character. I wrote, composed, produced, and recorded Barkha in January 2026 in SheetlaKhet, in the Himalayas, while waiting for the rain as the mountains were covered in snow. In a single room, within an hour, the composition, lyrics, vocals, and minimal production came together. I chose to preserve the original takes and the spontaneous piano arrangement from that very moment, keeping the recording close to the feeling of that cold Himalayan evening. Driven by live piano and an intentionally minimal acoustic production, Barkha is raw, intimate, and unfiltered. The soothing refrain, “Barkha re barso na, Barkha re badariya barso na”, evokes the longing for rain and for a loved one, while the verses unfold as a romantic memory of two hearts meeting amidst the mountains. Barkha is a song about waiting, remembering, and finding beauty in longing—the sound of one particular moment in the Himalayas, preserved as it was felt.”
